In colonizing mosquitos in cages there are usually two main difficulties : the provision of conditions that will allow mating to occur and provision of the blood meal. In Eretmapodites spp. there is a third difficulty: the larvae are facultative cannibals. The following is a brief account of the successful colonization of Eretmnpodites cchrysognster, sensrr stricfo, at the East African Virus Research Institute, Entebbe, Uganda.
