Excerpt: Program Highlights. OCRM manages the nation?s Coastal Zone Management Program with participation from 34 states. OCRM manages the National Estuarine Research Reserve System of 25 special areas set aside for conservation, research, and education. OCRM and the Heinz Center recently completed the report titled Developing a Framework for Identifying Performance Indicators for the Coastal Zone Management Act. The National MPA Center, now fully staffed, was officially established as part of OCRM in Fiscal Year 2003. The Center coordinates all NOAA MPA activities.
