Excerpt: Dear Ms. Heumann, it gives me great pleasure to officially transmit to the Access Board, the ADAAG Review Advisory Committee's Final Report, and Recommendations for a New ADAAG. Although a challenging assignment, I'm sure the committee members would agree that our two-year effort was a most worthy endeavor and a very enjoyable and highly professional experience. We believe we have developed a comprehensive set of recommendations that will help result in the next edition of the ADAAG being compatible with available technologies, yet flexible enough to allow the prompt and efficient use of appropriate new technologies and practices. Further, through the committee's concerted efforts to coordinate its recommendations with ANSI A1 17.1 and ASME/ANSI A17.1, the ADAAG's consistency with private accessibility related criteria can reach a new and beneficial level. Finally, and most importantly, we believe the Committee's recommendations will effectively meet the needs of individuals with a wide range of disabilities.
