Excerpt
Excerpt: NOAA?s responsibilities for the environment, ecosystems, safety, and commerce of this Nation span oceanic, coastal, and atmospheric domains. Every day, the work we do touches the life of America and much of the world. NOAA provides weather, water, and climate services, manages and protects fisheries and sensitive marine ecosystems, conducts atmospheric, climate, and ecosystems research, promotes efficient and environmentally safe commerce and transportation, supports emergency response, and provides vital information in support of homeland security. The breadth and scope of these services demand that we be responsive to both short-term and long-term societal needs. The Nation and world depend upon the skill, efficiency, and productivity of our workforce and its ability to provide the foundation for this information and these services.
